Laurel Police Chief Rick Musson

Rick Musson began his law enforcement career in 1982 as a Laurel Police Reserve Officer. On February 14, 1983, his full-time career began when he worked his first shift as a sworn Police Officer for the Laurel Police Department. In August of 1994, he was promoted to the position of Captain/Assistant Chief. In August of 1998, he was promoted to the Chief of Police position, which he continues to hold.

Early in his law enforcement career, he was privileged to become a certified PR-24 (side handled baton) instructor. Later he became a firearms instructor and a basic swat school instructor. Chief Musson spent 18 years as a swat member with the Yellowstone County Sheriff’s Office Swat Team.Chief Musson is a graduate of the 212th session of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia. He is also a member of the International Chiefs of Police Association.
